Katie and Her Book
Katie Hull is a lovely, bright, and happy ten-year-old girl. She was born with lots of love and a physical challenge called Spina Bifida. This neurological disorder led a newborn Katie to her first operation within just a few hours of her birth. While Katie has paralysis of her feet and partial paralysis of her legs, she can do more things than many people without physical challenges.
With wheelchair in tow, Katie enjoys many exciting activities. Katie has participated in a 5K wheelchair race, as the youngest female racer. She surfs, skis, swims, loves art, crafts, writing, and more. She is a natural advocate for children with disabilities and has served as Little Miss Wheelchair, California. From speaking at events, enjoying her life, and dreaming of the future, Katie is a constant inspiration.
Katie CAN do…and you CAN do too! is a heartfelt lesson for children and grown-ups about what is possible. With hard work, a can-do attitude, and a positive approach to life, anything is possible. The book is easy to read, teaches about Spina Bifida, and lifts the spirit. Full of beautiful photos and Katie's narration, this book succeeds at being inspirational, hopeful, and best of all…fun.
Katie hopes that readers will enjoy her book and her story. She has shared her personal journey in order to help inspire others, with and without visible challenges, to work hard, remain positive, and hold true to a can-do attitude. Katie can do, and you can too!
